The Sonablate 500 (SB500) is the HIFU device of our choice for several reasons. Developed by Focus Surgery in Indiana, USA it is capable of treating prostate cancer and enlarged prostates without the need for an incision or needles. The Sonablate 500 machine has several unique characteristics to assure the best possible results while minimizing side effects:

A single transducer with a dual 3 and 4 cm focus. Because of this it is capable to treat prostate glands as large as 50 ml or 50 grams without the need for additional procedures. At the same time it is capable of delivering real-time images of the prostate during treatment. This assures accuracy and effectiveness of the treatment, while assuring maximum safety.

Wide viewing angle and treatment area. This assures minimal need to move the probe while treating the patient, increasing efficiency.

Color Doppler ultrasound allowing visualization of the neurovascular bundles, aiding the physician in preserving these vital structures.

Three dimensional imaging. This allows for even more detailed viewing of the prostate and surrounding structures, further assuring accurate and effective treatment.

Tissue Change Monitor (TCM). The targeted tissue is electronically evaluated to assure that the treatment was effective. This allows the physician to assure adequate and effective treatment, and to retreat any area that appears undertreated.
